Easy, healthy, simple side dish that is packed with phytochemicals that help protect against cancer and balance hormones.
Ingredients
- 400g long-stem broccoli (broccolini)
- 100g (3.5oz or ½ cup) hot water
Instructions
- In a large pot, arrange the broccoli, pour over hot water, cover the pot and cook on high heat for 3 minutes, steaming the broccoli, then remove from the heat straight away to preserve the colour and leave uncovered until you serve the side dish.
Notes
Side dishes do not need to be complicated or drenched in sauce or oil to be delicious. This way of preparing the broccoli locks in the goodness, keeps some crunch and colour and tastes delicious,. Broccoli is high in glycosinolates which are compounds that are protective against oestrogenic cancers and help to boost liver detoxification of excess oestrogens that we take in from medications, plastic and the environment.
