Greek Meatballs/ Bifteki
This is a super delicious, easy and juicy Greek meatballs recipe filled with feta that can be enjoyed as a Mezze snack or as a mains.
Ingredients
- 250g (8.8oz) organic beef mince
- 250g (8.8oz) organic pork mince
- 80 g (3.5oz) feta
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp parprika
- 1 tsp origanum
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 dash of sea salt and pepper
Instructions
1. Whisk the eggs, then in a large bowl, combine with the meat, paprika and origanum, and mix well.
2. Make a flat patty in one hand, the add feta to the middle of the patty, then close the patty into a ball shape, making sure there is no feta exposed. You should be able to make 8 patties.
3. Pour the olive oil into a pan on medium heat, then cook the patties for 5 minutes per side and set aside.
4. Best served with a Greek salad, mint tzatziki and/or beetroot hummus as part of a Mezze platter. You could also serve with pita bread.
Notes
This is a super easy dish that can be made and served with pita, Greek salad, roast Mediterranean vegetables, beetroot hummus, mint tzatziki as part of a Mezze platter. Traditionally the dish is made with pork/beef/lamb mince, but you can replace this with chicken or turkey mince to create a healthier, lower calorie meal.
